Mage Creation Guide

Basic Guidelines

  1. Mages are 5-17. They cannot be older or younger. With the exception of Mature mages, they cannot age. And even Mature mages only age temporarily.
  2. Only one mage form  is allowed at the moment.  Choose wisely!
  3. Your overall design should be based off your mage item. Also certain forms are allowed certain design elements limited to only that form. Please refer below to see what those specifications are.
  4. You should have a "main color" for your mage outfit. This color should account for at least 50% of your Mage outfit's color scheme. (This is only mage form, your character is free to wear whatever they wish normally) Black/White as a main color is limited to Mature or Irregular Mages only. 
  5. Remember that you don't have to create a super powerful character with super duper strong attacks. You start out weak/level 1. There are opportunities to grow stronger so don't worrry! If you have an overpowered character I will ask you to modify them. It's not to be a killjoy or anything but it's not fair to everyone else who started out weak.

Mage Items

  1. Everyone gets one unique item that will serve as their transformation item. Check the Misc Stats spreadsheet on the front page to see which items have already been claimed. You are not allowed the same item but you can have slight variations. So if someone has like... a moon brooch... you can have a sun brooch, etc etc. 
  2. Your Mage outfit should be based off of it. It doesn't have to be literal but think of it as... your basic theme/source of inspiration for your design. If your item is an elephant plushie.. you shouldn't have a duck suit as your outfit.
  3. It can essentially be anything but keep the following in mind:
    • Size : Too large would make it difficult to carry.
    • Single vs Many: You can have an item that has multiple copies of itself like a stack of paper. However it should be "one item" like a pad of paper. The pad won't run out but that way you still have one specific item.
    • You cannot have something like a treasure chest of jewels.
  4. Your weapon or summon does not have to be it but still should be based off it.
    - example: If your item is a “bell”, you can have it transform into a gun that shoots sound waves. Or you can have a larger bell…etc
Weapons cannot be used by other Mages due to their magic being bound to your mage. They can be held (with the exception of abnormally large items) but be careful because they will have the normal properties of that item aka they will be easier to break.
    By abnormally large I mean like... unable to be held normally. Like a 7 foot long sword. These are only weildable due to their Mage's magic and therefore cannot be held by other people unless they're really that strong. However, that doesn't mean if you have a large weapon it's automatically super strong. The physical strength of it is based off your character's power. 
       A familiar is not a summon. Therefore a Standard Mage can have both a weapon and familiar.
        The difference between a familiar and a summon is that a summon will only appear in mage form. Summons have the same basic properties as a weapon only they are animate. Think of them as puppets/dolls. Familiars can die and have half-stats of their Masters...however they can move as a secondary character while summons cannot.

        Primary Mage Types

        Standard Form

        Master Form: Supreme - ??? *cannot be accessed by Standards Mages who have or had familiars.
        This is the typical and most basic of mage types. Although it doesn't drastically change a character's appearance like the other forms, it has other advantages. Appearance-wise they look like what you normally think of when you think of "magical girl/boy"
        • Your character still looks the same although you can change their hairstyle. You can't change their hair color aside from the shade.
        • They can have a familiar. (talk to me if you wish to have one to get it approved and check the familiar guide...) However it should be noted that this will possibly give limitations to your Mage later on.
        • +5 potential bonus

        Reverse Form

        Master Form: Anti - ???
        Character reverses gender for this form. Gender-swapped character still maintains similar traits to their original identity. They still keep their personality...
        • All Reverse Mages have a double-sided arrow marking somewhere on their body. The size, shape, and location of this arrow(s) varies. (( Looks like  this )) 
        • Any reverses created after 9/29 should keep the following color themes in mind. ( Boy--> Girl = Pink, Girl -->Boy = Blue, they don't need to be your main color, but you should have something integrated into your mage form)
        • +5 magic bonus

        Mature Form

        Master Form: Epoch - ???
        Character becomes an adult(bishounen/bishoujo) in this form. Character should appear 5-10 years older.
        • Only this form can have black/gray/white as their main color. 
        • They age mentally during this time but do not treat it as a "future" self. 
        • +5 power bonus

        Forbidden Form

        Master Form: Taboo - ???
        Character gains mystical-like features like angel wings, demon horns, cat ears, etc.
        • Character should still look 75% human.
        • Hair / eye color change is allowed.
        • +5 speed bonus

        Reaper Form

        Master Form: ??? - ???
        A supposed Mage form. Some claim to have seen them. If they exist, they make themselves scarce. They are known to be extremely dangerous...
        • Not available as a starting mage form. You can only acquire this form via plot / rp. As to how...who knows 8)
        • A reaper must pay a heavy price to stay alive...

        Cute Form

        Character becomes big-eyed / child-like but not quite younger...
        • "Chibi or SD (super-deformed) appearance. They are extremely short/stubby.
        • Should for the most part still retain your character's normal appearance such as hair and eye color.
        • Should follow 50% mage color rule.

        Beast Form

        Character becomes an animal. They cannot become a made-up creature (like one of your own creation, it has to be an existing animal: dog, dolphin, etc.)
        • Animals can be a bit larger but cannot exceed the size of an adult human. So no 10ft penguins.
        • You do not need to follow the color rule, but you still need to incorporate your mage item somehow in the design.
        • You can speak in this form. You do not gain animalistic personality traits.

        Secondary Mage Types

        The following forms cannot be accessed by normal means. Unlike the forms above, your character may obtain a slight personality change in these forms. Also, they will not remember what they do while in these forms. Think of it as being possessed by a different being rather than changing. (If it helps, think of it as similar to Yu-Gi-Oh!...although, it's only when transformed. Not having a dormant spirit live with you 24/7.)
        It's unknown at the moment how to obtain these forms.

        Irregular Form: ???

        • Black / white color scheme only. Clothes should be Lolita or Suit-inspired.
        • Outfit is not based off or your mage item; you will be granted a title to base your outfit on instead.
        • Stat bonus if your primary form is Standard or Ordinary.

        Cross Form: ???

        • Must have an arrow with a strike like this
        • Outfit should be opposite of your gender's typical accepted style of dress. Females should have shorts/pants. Males should have dresses/skirts.
        • Outfit is not based off or your mage item; you will be granted a title to base your outfit on instead.
        • Stat bonus if your primary form is Reverse or Ordinary.

        Youthful Form: ???

        • Character de-ages by 5-10 years. Should not be lower than 5 years old.
        • Mentally regresses in age...
        • Outfit is not based off or your mage item; you will be granted a title to base your outfit on instead.
        • Weapon should be toy-based.
        • Stat bonus if your primary form is Mature or Ordinary.

        Permissible Form: ???

        • Character should be 25% human, 75% animal/monster.
        • Outfit is not based off or your mage item; you will be granted a title to base your outfit on instead.
        • Stat bonus if your primary form is Forbidden or Ordinary.

        Raconteur Form: ???

        • Can only be gained as a form if your character has at least one storybook (key item).

        Paradox Form: ???

        • Both your color scheme and personality become opposite of your primary form.

        Parasite Form: ???

        • Only accessible by Standards that use familiars
        Your stats are mainly used to balance out your mage so they do not overpower other mages too much. This is mainly for rp purposes but may serve other purposes as well... You start out with 100 points( or less if you want a weaker character) and you can distribute them how you see fit. Certain forms also get small bonuses.
        * You may ask for randomized stats with a chance of getting higher stats. ( vary from 80-120--only applies to first characters as of Dec.2013)
        *You may not place more than 50 stat points into a single stat as a level 1.

        Keep in mind, stats are only for Mage form. With the exception of potential and luck which is used for determining random stuff outside of battle as well.


        How well you can use/sync with your Mage Item is determined by this stat. It is crucial to one's ability to transform and retain it. A unique stat that doesn't follow the same principles as the other four stats. Important to those with familiars.
        • Primary Transform time: Every 20 potential grants you a single transformation of 1 hour.  Every set of 20 after, grants you another hour. (40, 60 )
        Those with 1-19 also have an hour of transform time. However due to low sync to items, those will low potential have a higher chance of their Mage Item breaking.
        • Potential is equivalent or used to determine "hit points" in certain systems such as Disphere's or the Academy's Duel system.
        • For Secondary forms, potential determines transformation time differently. Every 1 potential is equivalent to 2 minutes of transformation time so 20 potential would equal 40minutes of transformation time. However, unlike a Primary transformation, Secondaries do not use intervals. So 30 potential would equal an hour. 
        Since they do not use intervals, transforming uses all of their transform time.
        So if you had 40 POT, you can't use 20, then save 20 for Primary transformation
        • For battles, think of this as your stamina/energy. Low = tire easily, high = maintains mage form longer without strain.
        Remember that waiting for your transform time to expire is painful to your character not only because you've been in battle long and have sustained much injury, but also because it is draining to use a Mage Item. 


        This stat determines how physically strong you are. A main stat for attacking/dealing damage. If power is not high enough for certain enemies with high power, no damage will be dealt.
        • Unless you are like... blasting out magical energy or something like that, most weapons will use power as a determining stat for damage. A sword slashing, a gun shooting, etc.
        • Keep in mind that everytime you attack you do not use 100% output. It should be about 10-25% depending on the state of your character. 
        Example: If you have 100POW, you do not hit for 100 each time, rather you do about 25 when you're at full health and 10 when you're heavily fatigued/injured
        • Abilities that do not have magical effects also use power as a stat. ( ex. summons larger version of sword to stab )


        Your magical ability is based off this stat. Can be used for determining damage if attacks are magical-based as well as all sorts of other non-physical abilities. If magic is not high enough for certain enemies with high magic, no damage will be dealt or effects will be null.
        • Same rules as power except with maaaagical things.
        • For healing, you can only have usage of 4 times per transformation and there needs to be some "sacrificial" factor. Of course there are exceptions if you wish to speak and discuss with me to try and come up with an ability that works for you.


        How fast you can move... this mainly deals with your ability to dodge an attack. Having equivalent or higher to the enemy gives you both a 50% chance of dodge. Having it lower decreases your dodge percentage depending on how much lower it is. 


        A random stat. Luck can be used as a determining factor for a variety of things.
        • Item creation
        • Item drops
        • Equipment breaks
        • Certain status effects
        • Game chance...

        Magical Attacks

        Mages can have all sorts of spells that are unique to themselves. A level 1 mage has one normal attack and one special one.
        • Attacks should be based off your item.
        • Your special attack can only be used once per transformation. 
        They are not super strong finisher moves. They are merely stronger abilities.
        Think of it as the difference between a thundershock versus thunder. Or fire versus firega.
        • All attacks must have a name and have to be spoken aloud to work. 
        • They do not need to be offensive abilities.
        • Keep in mind that buff type abilities should be limited. Please speak to me specifically if you have questions. 
        • All abilities must be approved by me to make sure they're not OP.

        Ok, I have a character that has demon wings established on them. As an entry character, can they maintain that, or they'd have to just gain them in growth?

        A forbidden mage (and mages in general) so not change appearance naturally over time so in short... yes you can have wings as a level 1 character. For examples, I recommend looking through our gallery of mages (or even character sheets of past potential applicants)!

        hi, i'm a bit confused about the transformation.

        so if you transform for an hour, is that a RL hour or some kind of specific thing? and can you transform again once a day passes?

        it's time based off turns, generally one turn is 5 minutes so it's a 12 turn transformation.

        uhhh hello!! i'm looking to join but i have a question:

        could i use a fingerless glove as an item to base my mage character off of? and use the glove for electricity-based attacks?

        i have a question, i have been stalking your group for about 3 days now and i came across a Memoriam, its ony natural that mages can die but what want to ask is in what situations does this happen, is it wen you lose a battle? only in some special battle events ? can you die by poisoning or other non battle related events? does luck decide if you survive losing?
